Planning a photography session can be overwhelming, but it really doesn’t have to be! With a bit of preparation, you can ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. Here are three essential tips for a stress-free photo session that will help your beautiful moments come to life without any hassle.
Setting the right expectations and mindset with your family is crucial for a stress-free photo session. Talking to your husband and children about the session beforehand will be quite helpful. Explain to your husband that you are thankful that he is willing to do this and that he will breaks of not being in front of the camera the entire time. You can let your kiddos know how fun it’s going to be to spend an evening together playing and enjoying one another. Keeping a positive and relaxed mindset will help every member of your family enjoy the session.
One of the most important tips for a stress-free photo session is to plan ahead. Decide on your location, outfits, and details well in advance. A tip for outfit planning is to have a few different options for the kiddos. You never know if your child is going to spill something on them during your photo session or wipe sand all over that beautiful new white t-shirt. Having a backup option ensures you can do a quick switch out in the case of kids being kids!
If you are planning a session with me, Rachel Elisabeth Photo, then this will all be worked on together to create a seamless experience leading up to your session. It really helps if you can communicate your vision and ideas to your photographer as well.
Having some refreshments on hand during your session is vital, especially with the little ones. Sessions often have your children running around and playing and this can lead to thirsty, hungry kiddos quite quickly. During my sessions, we take breaks to recoup and grab a few snacks and gulps of water in between shots!
I completely understand that this sometimes can’t be avoided, but, trying to make the day a little more relaxed can really help everyone to have the energy and be well rested when it is time for your session. Rushing from one activity to another or running lots of errands the day of can cause unnecessary stress and fatigue.
One of my favorite tips to give to my clients is to plan a fun activity after the shoot. Consider going out for ice cream or visiting a favorite park close by. This gives everyone something ot look forward to and help keep the spirits high during the session. Knowing something exciting is coming can motivate children to stay engaged and involved.
By following some of these tips for a stress-free photo session, you can turn what might seem like a daunting task into an enjoyable and memorable experience. If you are wanting to book a session with Rachel Elisabeth Photo, please contact me here.
