When to Schedule your Maternity Session

Are you expecting a new little arrival soon? First off, congratulations! Capturing the beauty of pregnancy is a must for most women, but when exactly should you schedule your maternity session session? As there is not one size fits all with pregnancy, I do believe there are some helpful tips for everyone to take something from! Let’s dive in.

When should I schedule my maternity photos?

Ideally, aim for the 28-32 week mark in your pregnancy. This seems to be the sweet spot during the many months of pregnancy. During this time, your bump is usually pronounced and you are feeling energetic! You are still able to get around easily as well.

Of course, each person is different with how they are feeling and what’s comfortable for them! Maybe you are expecting multiples or are looking to do an announcement type of session. In both cases, scheduling at a different time in your pregnancy would most likely be ideal. You are also more than welcome to schedule earlier if you want your bump sightly smaller or later if you think you’ll feel better a few weeks after the suggest time frame. With all the changes happening to your body, the number one priority is you being confident and feeling as beautiful as you can during your pregnancy.

When should I reach out to my photographer to book my maternity session?

I suggest reaching out to your photographer the beginning of your second trimester. This should give plenty of time for you to get on the schedule when you feel would be best! If traveling from out of town for a baby moon, contact your desired photographer when the trip is booked to give enough time in advance for you to get booked on your vacation.
